How To Lower Cortisol With Your Diet

 

The Link between cortisol and our diet

Stress is not just caused by external circumstances. What, and how, we’re eating can also cause a lot of stress on our bodies.

Lower cortisol (stress hormone) means less inflammation, disease, fatigue, brain fog, and GI issues - to name a few.

Here are some tips to help lower cortisol in our bodies with our eating choices and habits:

  1. Eliminate all processed foods.

  2. Eat within 1 hour of waking up.

  3. Space meals a few hours apart.

  4. Don’t snack before bed. Snack from dinner until breakfast.

  5. Eat regular meals, especially breakfast. Don’t skip meals.

  6. Drink plenty of water.

  7. Make sure you’re getting plenty of Omega-3’s, both in your diet and in supplement form.

  8. Meals should include: protein, fiber, healthy carbs & healthy fats.

  9. Eat a colorful diet.

  10. Eat low-glycemic foods to help keep blood sugar low.
