7 Ways To Save $ On Healthy Food

eating healthy does not have to be more expensive.

here are some tips to help you save at the grocery store:

  1. Follow the “Clean 15” and “Dirty Dozen” when buying Organic, although I recommend buying 100% organic, if possible.

    2022 LISTS

Clean 15: produce with the least amount of pesticide residue, so you don’t necessary need to buy organic:

    • Avocado

    • Sweet Corn

    • Pinapple

    • Onion

    • Papaya

    • Frozen Sweet Peas

    • Asparagus

    • Honeydew

    • Kiwi

    • Cabbage

    • Mushrooms

    • Cantaloupe

    • Mango

    • Watermelon

    • Sweet Potato

Dirty Dozen: crops that farmers typically use the most pesticides on, so you should buy these organic no matter what:

    • Strawberries

    • Spinach

    • Kale, Collard, Mustard Greens

    • Nactarines

    • Apples

    • Grapes

    • Bell and Hot Peppers

    • Cherries

    • Pears

    • Celery

    • Tomatoes

  2. Get Produce From CSA or Local Farm.

CSA = Community Supported Agriculture. This is a program that connects you with local farms that deliver fresh, in-season produce to your home. Super easy, convenient, and affordable. Cannot recommend this enough!

  3. Buy In-Season Produce.

  4. Buy Frozen or Canned Foods.

This works great for foods you always want to have in stock at home. They carry the same nutritional value, but are often less expensive.

  5. Find Non-Perishable Deals Online.

  6. Cook At Home.

  7. Buy in Bulk.
