3 ways to boost thyroid function

I always like to start with nutrient, dietary, and lifestyle modifications when treating an illness, and the thyroid is no exception. These natural approaches to healing the thyroid have proven to be powerfully effective. Even better - each of these things in 100% in our control.

One of my favorite parts about my job is reminding my clients that we have the power to get our bodies to work for us, instead of against us, and showing them how to do that.

  1. Supplements:

    • Vitamin D

    • Selenium

    • Zinc

    • Iron

    • Vitamin A

    • Copper

  2. Eliminate Gluten

    The protein in gluten resembles that of the thyroid tissue. When gluten crosses the gut barrier the immune system goes into attack mode, and given their similarities, the thyroid tissue is one of the targets. Removing gluten has been shown to help reverse thyroid issues. I also recommend anyone with hypothyroidism get tested for celiac and gluten sensitivity. People with celiac are more likely to have hypothyroidism.

  3. Reduce Endocrine Exposure

    Endocrine disruptors, a.k.a. environmental toxins, can disrupt thyroid hormone function. Choosing non-toxic cleaning and personal products, limiting use of plastics and fragrance, and using air & water filters are a few ways to limit your exposure.
